Volunteering with Tools for Self Reliance

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do.

Around 100 volunteers support us at our Netley Marsh headquarters, working in our workshops, office and ReNew Store. Across the UK, more than 350 volunteers collect donated tools, refurbish equipment and help us raise funds.

Whether you have a few hours a week or a few days a month, we’d love to welcome you to our friendly team.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Retail Volunteer

Join our friendly team in our on-site ReNew Store at Netley Marsh.

Our Shop Volunteers help welcome customers, sort and display stock, process sales and keep the shop looking its best. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people, gain retail experience and help reduce waste by giving donated items a second life.

We’re currently looking for volunteers on Friday afternoons, and on ad-hoc basis to help cover.
The ReNew Store is open Monday-Friday, 10am-3pm

Online Selling Volunteer (eBay)

Help us turn donated tools into funding for vocational training.

Some donated tools aren’t suitable for our training projects, but they can still make a difference. By photographing, listing and selling them online, you’ll help raise valuable funds while giving quality tools a new home.

If you enjoy online selling or have an eye for a bargain, we’d love to hear from you.

Working closely with the CEO and Finance Team, you’ll help oversee the charity’s finances, support good financial governance and contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation.

The role requires approximately 1 to 2 days per month, including quarterly Board meetings and a monthly finance meeting.

If you’re interested, please contact our CEO, Sarah Ingleby, at sarah@tfsr.org, or download the Trustee Recruitment Pack and Application Form.
